Jacqui

Founder of Catapult Tutoring

Nice to meet you! I'm Jacqui Anders, the founder and head math tutor of Catapult Tutoring. I'm based in Los Angeles, but I'm a cross-country transplant from the northern Virginia area – and I currently work with students in seven different states across the country!

I graduated with a 4.0 from Vassar College with a degree in math and drama. That combination may seem odd, but it's been extraordinarily helpful in finding ways to be creative and personal with each individual student. I strive to create an environment of comfort and fun during sessions, because I believe that students learn best when relaxed and confident. I'm especially passionate about helping each student discover the joy of learning!

I started tutoring when I was in middle and high school, helping my classmates after school and eventually working with younger children for the National Honor Society. In college, I began tutoring professionally – and I've been hooked ever since. Since graduating, I've worked with students across the country to strengthen their confidence and skills in math. As my company grows, I'm excited to be able to offer different subjects and tutors, and I take pride in matching each student with the tutor that is best for them.

Nanea

Lead Math, Chemistry, & Biology Tutor

I first fell in love with tutoring during high school. I started tutoring my peers during a particularly difficult Calculus class, and that soon grew into a full blown tutoring business. I started small, just students in my high school, but as I learned more knowledge and become more accustomed to tutoring, I began getting referrals to other clients. I tutored their little siblings, their friends and everyone in between.

After graduating with a 4.0 from my community college, I pursued a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience and Physiology at UCSD and graduated with a healthy respect for our amazing brain and how versatile it is. I learned about meta cognition and the process of how learning happens and how to optimize it. My Masters was in Neurobiology with a focus in Education – particularly teaching students how to take tests effectively and learn strategies for success.

I’ve gone to educational conferences and presented my own research, and I’ve been trained as an SI (Supplemental Instructor) leader for over 5 years, where I hosted student study sessions 3 times per week. Now, I work with clients from all over the world.

Rawan

Core Math, Science, & English Tutor

Hi! I’m Rawan, a passionate tutor who loves helping students tackle challenging math and science concepts with confidence. I first discovered my love for teaching while working through advanced courses like multivariable calculus, where I realized how much I enjoy breaking down difficult problems into simple, approachable steps.

I attended UC Irvine as a Public Health major, where I combined my love of the sciences with a deep interest in population based statistics. Along the way, I gained experience teaching in a research lab and working on team specializing in immunology and disease control. These opportunities not only strengthened my academic foundation but also allowed me to grow as an educator who can connect with students at different levels.

I’ve been tutoring for several years, and what I enjoy most is creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and excited about their progress. Whether it’s mastering complex equations, building problem-solving skills, or gaining confidence, I’m here to guide and encourage every step of the way.

Jeannie

Junior Tutor (Recent Graduate)

Hi! I’m Jeannie, a recent graduate of William & Mary with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Biochemistry. I’ve always loved science, but I know firsthand that subjects like chemistry, physics, and math can go from interesting to overwhelming very quickly. That’s one of the reasons I love tutoring: I get to help students slow things down, make sense of difficult concepts, and build confidence along the way.

I tutor biology, chemistry, physics, math, psychology, neuroscience, and English. Through my experience as a teaching assistant, tutor, mentor, nanny, and volunteer, I’ve worked with students of many different ages, learning styles, and confidence levels. Those experiences have taught me that there is never just one right way to explain something, and sometimes the best breakthrough comes from trying a new approach.

My tutoring style is patient, flexible, and encouraging. I like to create sessions where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through confusion without feeling judged. Whether we’re preparing for a test, working through homework, or rebuilding foundations, my goal is to help students leave each session feeling more capable than when they started.

Outside of tutoring, I’m preparing for medical school and volunteering as an EMT. I enjoy hiking, reading, playing volleyball, and hanging out with my three Boston terriers!
